    Absolutely...our nearest franchisee's serviceman should be on-site within 4-hours with spare-parts.

  13. Matched color-gamut?
You get to use the same RIP color profiles that your graphic-artist have adjusted with his many man-hours on your computer for the many of your returning customers. You get to use the same current spectra-photometers that you have purchased. If your customers require a larger color-gamut than the OEM, we can contract and custom-make a high-density-ink, HD-ink, for you.

  14. Matched media compatibility?
You get to use the same media that your customers have approved and the same media-supplier-relationship that you have so painstakingly developed. Our inks are made with polymer-resins that are compatible to the OEM and will adhere to your outdoor medias. If your customers require their prints on a special substrate, we can also contract and custom-make a polymeric-resined ink to adhere onto their special substrate.

  15. Matched ink compatibility?
You can just plug in the cartridge and use it -- plug & play. The inks are chemically engineered to inter-mix stabally in the printer's ink-tube-system, sub-tank and print-head. They will not chemically crash into each other and loose their initial properties. After you have finished using the inks in our cartridge, you can just plug back in the OEM cartridge and continue to use. You do not need to change any settings or flush out the OEM inks.

  16. Chips compatibility?
The printer will recognize the cartridge like an OEM cartridge. The ink level, like the OEM, will start at 100% and decrease to down to 0%. Now the 64s chips has different programs for the regions of the USA, Europe, Asia, and Japan. The 9000s chips do not have regionalities.

  17. Printhead Protection?
The ink pigments are already nano-sized particles sourced from our ISO9001 Approved Supplier List for consistency of quality and long-term business stability. Our finished inks are filtered down to the microns and under a strict ISO9001 complaint process. Our ink-making personnel are well-paid, emotionally-committed, educationally qualified, thoroughly trained, and certified ink-makers before they are allowed to work. The printhead is not given a chance to clog. If there is banding, it will be due to an environmental temperature which have a direct effect on viscosity.  Other than that, the nozzle openings may have dried because they have not been used for a period of time and a printhead cleaning by the machine will bring back the nozzle to life.

  18. The font panel displays INK PAST EXP. DATE. How do I continue?
The 9000s can continue to print!  Just press the OK key to continue or the CANCEL key to replace the ink cartridge.  Press the OK key again to confirm that you want to use an expired ink cartridge.

  19. The printer displays a higher ink level of 2% to 50% than the actual ink remaining in the cartridge, for a long time, before displaying 0%.
The 9000s 790 ink-cartridge, unlike the 5000 no.81 ink-cartridge, does not have any built in ink level sensor.
The 9000s printer depends on a counter to estimate the ink level in the cartridge.
This counter is a plastic sensor with an LED shining onto a rotating circular disc.
The circular disc has a silver reflector.
The number of times the reflector reflects light back onto the sensor helps the printer record
the number of revolution or turns of the circular disc.
The circular disc is driven by way of a gear system from the peristaltic pump motor that sucks ink out of the cartridge.
The printer then calculates the amount of ink consumed in a cartridge and displays it onto an LCD display.
Often when there is dust, dirt, worn out gear, worn out LED, or worn out LED sensor, the calculations goes wrong.

The printer is protected from this error by 2 limit switch sensors on the sub-tank ink-bag.
The sub-tank's ink-bag limit-switch sensor triggers the 0% indication when both the sub-tank ink-bag and the ink-cartridge are empty.

The error can remain at 2% to 50% for a long time until both the sub-tank and ink-cartridge are empty.
When the sub-tank indicates that the ink-cartridge is empty.  Both the sub-tank and ink-cartridge are empty.

An ink level display error can also occur if the operator pulls the cartridge out of the printer while the printer is printing.
There is no cartridge chip to record the depleting ink level, so the printer can only remember the same ink level before the cartridge was pulled out.
When the same cartridge is re-inserted, the printer informs the same chip of the old higher ink level.  Where is actual fact, the sub-tank ink-bag is already depleted.

  20. When I print in 4-pass.  I see banding.  When I print in 8-pass, I do not see banding anymore!

After six (6) months, the HP 8000s / 9000s / 10000s printer parts are not new anymore.
The printer's dampers (spring weakening), printheads (aging piezo nozzles), wiper blades (solvent corrosive resistance), capping station (mechanical fatigue), motors, are subjected to wear and tear.
Any one of the aged and worn parts will obviously subject the printer to a lesser than optimal or flawless print quality.
4-pass printing, although fast, is the very first event and print mode that an end-user will notice banding and as a result noticeable color shifting.  This is undeniable and globally factual.
Many people have different names for this...banding, media incompatibility, color shifting, ink drying out, ink dropping out, color profiles not performing, media axis movement out of calibration, ....
This is why resellers and servicemen of this printer could never recommend or guarantee indefinite flawless printing in 4-pass mode and quite honestly refuse to service a printer who demands to print in 4-pass mode.
No amount of color re-profiling after twelve (12) months of printing will ever get the pantone colors right in the 4-pass mode.
We have witnessed servicemen physically walk away from unreasonable and abusive end-users and forever refuse to pick up their service calls.
This unfortunate natural phenomenon, Force Majuere, or act of God has resulted in misunderstandings, unhappiness, quarrels, claims, and even law-suits.  Oh My Goodness!
This is why the printer maker has provided photographic and more sustainable print modes in the 8-pass, 10-pass, 12-pass, 14-pass, and 16-pass backlit modes.
We saw and learned this three years ago since 2008 and have optimized SAM*INK® 8000s / 9000s / 10000s no.790 inks to optimized color, media-compatibility, drying-times, from the 8-pass mode upwards into the 16-pass photographic backlit modes.
It would be reckless, irresponsible, and a gross misrepresentation for SAM*INK® to legally guarantee flawless printing in the 4-pass mode.
Because of this Force Majeure (act of God), we simply could not recommend, could not guarantee, and could not forever support color profiling and flawless printing in the 4-pass print mode

  21. When the carriage accelerates along the printer, there are changes in the ink-pressure inside and along the ink-tube system between the sub-tank to the carriage. This change in ink-pressure will distort the nice-round ink-drop and ink-tail formation firing out of the printhead and you will see banding. The air-damper will dampen the changes in the ink-tube system ink-pressure to ensure an ink-reservior sitting on the carriage that gives a constant and smooth ink-pressure to the printheads.

The ink will go though 2-filters before the ink reaches the printhead. One filter is located in the ink-cartridge-needle-assembly just when the ink travels out of the cartridge and into the printer. The other is in the air-damper located on the carriage. Any ink would have dried in the system and will crystallize up the 2-filters after about 6-months.
  22. 1. Insert the six-flush cartridges and charge 2-times.
    2. Change the air-damper, clean or change the ink-cartridge needle filter assembly.
    3. Insert ink-cartridges and charge 2- times.

  23. I see banding at high temperatures.
Customers usually print at 40 degrees Celsius.
Two fans located on the carriage will start to blow and cool the printheads at 30 degrees Celsius.
On page 101 of the HP user's guide...If you see banding and you have already performed media advance calibration, you should try adjusting the heater temperature and print mode settings. Banding may be caused by the following factors:
    - Small print dot size: heat will cause a smaller dot size. The higher the heater temperature, the smaller the dot size.
    - Ink absorption of the media: if the media you are using is not capable of absorbing the ink sufficiently to dry, this will result in banding.

To improve ink placement and absorption, please try the following:
    - Set a lower print temperature or use HP's Onyx RIP settings.
    - Change the print mode to reduce the quantity of ink placed onto the media,
    - Change the print mode from bi-directional printing to uni-directional printing.

Please do not change all the above at the same time. Change the above one-at-a-time and print the Image Quality print to check for banding. One single change can make the banding go-away. If the image quality still does not improve, we recommend that you please change the media.
    - Change the voltage setting of the printhead in question. You can first lower the voltage by 1-volts on both sides and if it does not work try increasing the voltage by 1-volt.

  24. Do you make Chips?
Yes, they have OEM-like functionality and design. Consistent reliability. IP Reviewed. Our advanced chip design, in-house manufacturing and automation capabilities, plus full emulation know-how, allows us to develop chips for inkjet applications that match the OEM footprint and provide desired printer functionality. SAM*INK inkjet chips provide accurate low-ink and ink-out messaging. Like the OEM chip, when ink-out occurs, SAM*INK chips will shut-down the printer to prevent damage to the printheads, caused by printing with a dry cartridge.
Only SAM*INK has multiple dedicated engineers working full-time solely on new chip development. Using chips from SAM*INK means never taking a risk that your chips you have in the field will ever fail, or fail your business, now or in the future.

  25. Why do I need to change the Wiper station? and how often?
HP DesignJet 9000s Wiper-Station's sponge start to wear-out after 6-months.
Worn-out sponge particles are later picked up by the blade and wiped into the printhead's nozzles.

Preventive maintenance becomes increasingly critical - please change the sponge every 6-months.

  26. Why do I need to change Wiper blades? and how often?
HP DesignJet 9000s Wiper blades gets crusted with dried inks after 6-months.
The dried inks would scratch the printhead nozzles when they wipe the nozzle plates.
Preventive and maintenance becomes critical - please change the wiper blades every 6-months.

  27. Why do I need to change printhead Caps? and how often?
This cap ensures that the nozzles remain wet. When you send your picture to startup the printer, the first band of ink firing out of the nozzles should be good. However, this cap in the capping station will wear and tear. When they have worn out, air will get into the caps. Air will dry the inks on the nozzles. The caps should be wet and flooded with ink all the time, if you see that they have dried, it is time to replace them.

  28. A single color strength changed.
OEMs advises cartridges be shaken before use.  Should the cartridge be sitting in the printer for more than 30-days, we advise that the cartridge be shaken 20-times before use.
    + Remove that cartridge.
+ Shake that cartridge upside down for 20-times.
+ Charge that color once.  The color strength should return to normal.
+ Please shake any new cartridges upside down for 20-times before use.

HP DesignJet 9000s & 10000s Print Head Assembly

Seiko Color Painter 64s & 100s Print Head Assembly

Resolution: 180 dpi x 2 rows = 360 dpi
256 nozzles x 2 rows = 512 nozzles
Dimensions: 67mmW x 40mmD x 72mmH
12.8 KHz, 14-Pico-Liters, 720 dpi.

Question: What is the life-time of the printhead?

It depends on a combination of factors like:

  1. the number of times a nozzle is fired,
  2. media-printhead crashes,
  3. print-system design,
  4. daily wiping with rubber blade or cloth,
  5. daily pressure purging of inks from the nozzle holes,
  6. daily capping of the heads during idling period,
  7. ink chemistry.

Question: How is the HP9000s printhead different from the HP5500 printhead?

The printhead used in the HP5500 inkjet printer is a Thermal-System that ejects ink with the pressure of a bubble generated from the boiling of ink by heat generation. The HP9000s printhead is a Piezo-System that ejects ink with the pressure of a piezo-element that changes its form when voltage is applied.

The shear mode piezo inkjet head emits ink with the deformation of a piezo-electric element by shearing and not by expansion and contraction. Because it is driven by low electrical power, it has the advantage of utilizing multiple channels and allowing a wide variety of inks with different characteristics to be used. The demand for smaller droplets, higher speed, and higher driving efficiency is realized in this head by optimizing the shape of its ink channels (pressure chamber) and the form of its nozzles.

Ink is ejected from the nozzle in droplets when a voltage is applied to the actuator (pressure ink-chamber partition) made of a piezo-electric material. The form of the actuator-ink-chamber changes in both directions to increase the internal pressure within the ink-chamber. Ink is supplied from the ink-chamber to the nozzle by capillary attraction to make up for the ejected ink. In this way, the nozzle is continually refilled with ink and ready for the next ink ejection.
